A little impromptu progress

I have made a little progress with my impromptu quilt along all the nine patch blocks are made up and are ready for cutting.

I have also made up the first couple of the other blocks as well as completing a couple of the nine patch blocks.
I am loving the look so far, what do you think?

I have made some progress on the back as well. I love using up all my leftovers for the back, it makes the quilt double sided.
Happy Quilting. x

June Sugar Block Club

The June block of the Sugar Block Club, run by the lovely and talented Amy Gibson, arrived on the 1st of the month, with another yummy recipe to try.

I have made my block called Home Sweet Home.

I decided at the beginning that each block would be a single colour using plain and print fabrics having put together the first six blocks I am loving the way they look.

Now I have a whole month to wait for the next instalment.
Happy quilting.

All ready for tomorrow

The fabrics are all cut for the Impromptu quilt along that starts tomorrow.
I have carefully labelled and bagged all the separate pieces, there are quite a lot.

I have even cut the backing out as well.
I am using all the leftover fabric from the front.

I have done this before with other quilts I have made. In this quilts case because I am using fabric that I have, which are mostly fat quarters I have cut all the spare fabric into 9 1/2 inch squares to join up.
I had to cut 121 squares so I have to find some extra fabric from the stash.

Looking forward to starting tomorrow.
Happy Quilting.

Hexagons

I have made a little progress with my hexagons for Lily's quilts hex-along.
I thought i would just show you.
First the finished ones.
Second the work in progress.

It's a small start but i am enjoying it. I think it will come a bit addictive as i keep see such wonderful ideas over at the Lily's quilts flickr group.
Happy Quilting xx :-)

Hex - a - long.

Over at Lily's Quilts a hex-a-long is being hosted i have been toying with some ideas for while using hexagons, so this seems a perfect moment to start.

I have had a dive around in the stash and ended up in the scraps bin and sorted it out into heaps this seems a good place to start.

I will see how it goes, the colours are mostly muted so i may need to add a little something at a later stage.
The templates i printed are from the Candied Hexagon quilt that inspired all this to start with.

Happy Quilting xx.

My Home or Yours

I thought I would show you what I am working on at the moment. I signed up for the My Home or Yours by the very talented Lynette Anderson at the Festival of Quilts 2008.
I don't quite keep up with the one block a month plan it always sounds so easy but never seems to quite work out. But I am now almost at the end I have one more of the little stitched designs to do and then just a little stitching on the joining blocks. It can then be joined up!!!

I did the frames a little different as English paper piecing drives me nuts!!
So I cut my triangles with a quarter inch seam and added a seam allowance to the little corner piece then joined them on the machine.
I have then used a blanket stitch to secure the frames in place.
I am quite thrilled with how it is all coming together and am looking forward to quilting this, this is still in the planning stage, will keep you posted as thing progress.

Talk to you soon
